The KAL-D delivers the features of our legendary thermal flow switches in a compact, stainless steel package. It is designed for non-viscous, water-based liquids. The design, without any moving parts, offers exceptional reliability and insensitivity to dirt and solids. The insertion probe technology creates minimal system pressure loss.
HOW IT WORKS
Using calorimetric principles, the sensor tip of the KAL-D is heated. The passing fluid flow cools the tip and the change in temperature is proportional to liquid velocity. The liquid velocity is then compared to the field-adjustable setpoint and a transistor switch is activated when the setpoint is reached.
With a switching range of 0.15 to 6.6 feet per second, the KAL-D switch output can be PNP/NPN, N/O or N/C. Fittings come in ¼” and ½” NPT, M12x1, or G ¼ and ½. The maximum pressure is 580 PSIG and the maximum temperature is 176 °F. It offers a repeatability of two percent.
