REG - Flow Regulation Application
Application: Electrical Discharge Machines
Electrical discharge machinery is primarily used for hard metals or those that are difficult to machine with traditional techniques. EDM is typically for materials that are electrically conductive. Material is removed from the workpiece by a series of rapidly recurring discharges between two electrodes, separated by a dielectric liquid, usually deionized water. The quantity of the water used depends on multiple factors. The media can sometimes be costly. The REG successfully minimizes wasted media and delivers a consequent cost savings during machine operation.
Application: Agricultural Irrigation Pumps
In this application, an agricultural producer had extensive irrigation needs. The region in which they operate requires that they pay a tax based on the maximum capacity of the pumps used to deliver the water to the crops. Their particular pump capacity led to excessive fees above their actual use. KOBOLD worked with both the producer and the government entity to design an REG that guarantees a certain maximum flow and delivers cost savings to the end user.
