Paddle, flap, target, and vane flow meters are mechanical meters that measure flow rate from the force the flowing media exerts on a known area. They work in both clean and dirty fluids and are practical for large pipes and ducts where other flow meter types are difficult or expensive to apply which is common in water treatment, HVAC, and industrial processes.
The simple mechanical design makes installation and maintenance straightforward. These meters trade the precision of more advanced technologies for durability and simplicity, which is the right fit for many basic flow monitoring applications.
