Aggressive media such as chemicals, caustics, and acids bring an element of difficulty to finding suitable instrumentation for an application. Many flow and level products are not offered in materials that can handle challenging media.
KOBOLD offers a wide variety of chemical flow meters and level product options that are either made entirely of compatible material or can be coated, clad, or lined to combat corrosive media. Unlike many other manufacturers, we also specialize in many exotic material options. Below is a sample of our products that can be used with acidic, chemical, alkaline, or other types of aggressive media.

Other Application Variables that Affect Chemical Compatibility
Any seals, connections, or cables that are in contact with the media must also be evaluated for chemical compatibility. Media temperature also has a direct effect on the chemical resistance and should also be verified in relation to the application temperatures.
The suggested products below are only based on the main material in contact with the media and not the other three above variables. The purchaser/user must confirm full chemical compatibility and bears the responsibility and liability therein.

Rotameters and Variable Area Flow Meters for Chemicals
Kobold offers three variable area flow meter and switch options for chemicals. Rotameters, also known as variable area flow meters, typically offer a low cost flow measurement and monitoring solution for a wide variety of applications. Paddlewheel Flow Meters for Chemicals
KOBOLD’s DFT Paddlewheel Flow Meter offers a simple flow measurement principle and a cost effective option for simple flow applications. Turbine Flow Meters for Chemicals
Turbine flow meters are similar to paddle wheel flow meters. The difference between the two being that the paddlewheel mechanism is aligned parallel to the flow direction, like paddlewheel on river boats, and turbine flowmeters are aligned perpendicularly, like airplane propellers. Chemical Float Switches for Level Monitoring and Control
Kobold offers many different chemical float switches for monitoring level in tanks. There are a wide variety of both build materials and sizes and shapes for different applications and media specific gravities.
Side Mount Level Switches for Chemicals
We also offer a side mount level switch solution for chemicals in our NKP.
Chemical Tank Level Indicators
There are a couple of different types of chemical tank level indicators. Our NBK bypass level gauges indicators are useful for providing an on-site visual indication of level within the tank using a bypass tube on the side of the tank which operates on the hydrostatic principle and magnetics that “flip” our indicating elements from red to white to show the tank level. Transmitters and switches are also available for our NBKs to enable remote transmission and tank level control.

Chlorine Flow Meters
Kobold offers many options for measuring and monitoring the flow of chlorine. Our MIK is an industry standard for chemical injection in many different municipal and industrial processes. Our PIT magnetic flow meter is also available as an insertion installation option instead of inline. Our EPS is another magnetic flow meter for chlorine. We also offer the BGN variable area flow meter which is based on the rotameter principle and is a heavy-duty option for harsh operating conditions, high pressures, and high temperatures. Our DFT paddle wheel flow meter is a simple and economical inline option.
